North Myrtle Beach Condos - Ocean Drive
Ocean Drive is probably the most popular beach in the city of North Myrtle Beach. Its Main Street is the heart, and several generations of vacationers have grown up spending their summer vacations along the famous wide beach, reminiscent of Daytona Beach. Younger folks have thrilled to the Spanish Galleon oceanfront nightclub, and baby-boomers returned to the shag clubs year after year. Though "The Pad" is no longer around, other clubs such as Fat Harolds and Duck's have been here for more than 50 years, and still pull in the crowds. Four times a year, the Society of Shaggers, or SOS, meets along the street, moving from bar to bar to party and celebrate the state dance, the "Shag".
Ocean Drive stretches from around 15th Ave North to 10th Ave South, from Ocean Drive up to Highway 17 and across. Condos that are within a short walking distance from Main Street are the most coveted. The oceanfront towers of the Mar Vista Grande, The Ashworth, Ocean Bay Club, and the Avista Resort are the most requested for vacation rentals and income production. They all have indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, fitness facilities, and maybe an on-site restaurant.
Small condo buildings are everywhere up and down the side streets. Most convenient to Main Street would be 2nd Avenue North, where you'll find the Courtyard Homes by the Sea, Courtyard Villas, Sand Wedge, and Oak Landing. Most of these small buildings will have an outdoor pool, and perhaps a picnic area. They are so popular with the SOS crowd that it is rare to find one for sale. If you do manage to purchase one, you probably won't have any trouble selling it later on.
Another important group of condos is the Tilghman Beach and Racquet Club, which starts oceanfront at 2nd Ave North and stretches west for many blocks. These are all very popular, with the proximity to the beach being the biggest factor for price and popularity. There are probably 500 or more condos in Tilghman alone.
Heading south, You'll find the Sea Villas, Tidemaster, Windemere, and Xanadu II. These are all popular, but several blocks further from Main Street. You'll also find many unnamed condos up and down the side roads as you head south to Crescent Beach.
